Is there anything better than a warm, spiked drink during fall? I don't think so. This is a simple, easy recipe to create just that with apple cider, delicious fall spices and rum. This recipe is also really fun to make and features beautiful whole ingredients such as star anise and cinnamon sticks.
Ingredients
3-4 liters of apple cider (depending on how strong you'd like the drink to be spice and alcohol wise)
1 large navel orange, cut into 1/2 inch slices
3-4 cinnamon sticks
4 star anise
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. whole cloves
1 tbsp. whole allspice
About a 1 inch cut of a ginger root
1- 1/2 cups spiced rum
Requires
Large pot or Dutch oven
Spoon
Directions
Add all ingredients, except for the rum, to a large pot or Dutch oven and bring to a boil. Simmer for at least 1 hour (2-3 is best).
Add rum and mix well.
Remove spices and fruit from the pot and serve warm.
Enjoy!
